How to Split a PDF or Extract Specific Pages
Splitting lets you send only the pages someone needs — two pages of a bank statement instead of twelve, or one chapter instead of a whole book.

Two ways to split
- By page range: create a new PDF with selected pages, for example pages 2–3.
- Every page separately: create one PDF per page, downloadable individually or as a ZIP archive.
Steps
- Open the Split PDF tool.
- Upload the PDF.
- Choose to split by range or to extract all pages.
- Enter the range if needed, then run the split.
- Download and open the result to confirm the right pages are included.
Writing page ranges
| You want | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Pages 2 and 3 | 2-3 |
| First page only | 1 |
| Pages 1, 4 and 7–9 | 1,4,7-9 (or split several times) |
| Everything except the cover | 2 to the last page number |
Page numbers refer to the position in the file, not the number printed on the page. A report whose printed “page 1” comes after a cover and contents may be page 3 in the file.
Splitting to protect privacy
Landlords, employers and agencies often ask for “proof of address” or “proof of income”. Sending only the relevant pages reduces how much personal data you share. After splitting, check the extracted pages for account numbers or names you did not intend to include — and remember that splitting does not redact text on the pages you keep.
Other uses
- Breaking a large scanned file into chapters for easier emailing.
- Separating a signed signature page to return to a counterparty.
- Pulling single invoices out of a monthly batch PDF.
